Long Lane Deliveries ran a temperature-controlled food logistics operation across Scotland and England, and every driver’s day ran on paper. The morning walk-round, load checks, deliveries and collections, defect reports, then a debrief back at the office that ate the best part of an hour.
We put the whole shift on one app. The driver moves from walk-round to load checks to their drops and collections, flagging any defect on the spot with a photo. By the time they are back, the office already has the lot.
What we built
Debrief: 45 minutes to 6. The day’s record builds itself as the driver works, so the end-of-shift catch-up is all but done before they pull in.
The whole shift, one flow. Walk-round, load checks, drops, collections and defects, in the order the job actually happens.
Nothing lost, nothing chased. Every check, photo and defect logged and time-stamped. No paper to file and no audit trail to piece together later.
The value
- The end-of-shift debrief cut from about 45 minutes to 6, every driver, every day.
- The vehicle walk-round, load check and defect report done once, on the phone, never on paper.
- A complete, time-stamped record for every shift, ready the moment the driver pulls in.
- Compliance and audits handled by the same trail, with nothing to reconstruct after the fact.
Long Lane has since been acquired by the STEF Group, one of Europe’s largest temperature-controlled logistics operators.
